I've gotten so used to this setting that I've been contemplating on whether I should lower my thermostat even more. A couple of my friends have exclaimed, "you're nuts!," when I spoke of this idea. But last night I did the unthinkable. I lowered my thermostat to 58 degrees before bedtime. And you know what? I slept just fine!
When I woke up this morning I figured I'd be charmed by a sore throat, but no, I didn't suffer any repercussions from this change. So I'm going to amend my participation with respect to this challenge: 60 degrees by day and 58 degrees by night!

Consider yerself updated. Nice work!
Good for you! I'm suffering with 65 during the day and 60 at night. My hands get so cold they feel like they'll fall off. Typing gets harder as the night wears on. I guess that means I should go to bed earlier.
Maybe my thermostat is wrong but I set it to 65 if I'm in a room and 50-55 if I'm not or when I'm in bed. Granted, I sleep better in cooler weather so I have a hard time in the summer and we have a down comforter and 50 year old wool quilt but it seems fine. We have terrible wall heaters and even doing this, our electric bill was $157 versus $50-60 in the summer (with AC in our bedroom). Congratulations to those thermally challenged.
Beth, I know what you mean. I ended up leaving my thermostat to 58 degrees today and my fingers are so cold right now!! So, I've reached my limit for now.
With that said, I don't think I'm brave enough to lower the temp to 50-55. Sunny, kudos for being able to go that low!!
:0)
The real reason you don't have throat problems in the morning is that you have 2 dogs and a dog-like cat keeping you warm, you lucky dog, you.
