Well, folks, I fell off the wagon. It happened tonight when I attended my dance lesson. After teaching stats at 6:45pm on Thursdays, I go to Dan O'Day's Ballroom for my group lesson, which starts at 7:15pm. Tonight, we covered the foxtrot and swing, which was fun (but that's besides the point). And after the group lesson, there's a party from 8pm to 10pm.
So all that's to say is that I was absolutely starving by 9pm. And it's at this point when I began committing the following infractions:
1. I used 4 paper towels tonight (two trips to the girl's room).
2. I had refreshments and ended up using one styrofoam plate, one plastic fork, one napkin, and one plastic cup.
3. I threw those disposable products in their trash bin since I forgot to bring my own trash bag with me.
So there you have it. I'm not proud of this, but I'm not going to give up on myself so quickly. Tomorrow's another day, another chance to hop back on the wagon.

Damn! I should have thought about this before planning the "party" tonight! I've got to rethink this a little so I can help your effort here. I assume you'll be bringing your trash bag as a conversation starter! ;)
No worries, although I have been thinking about racking up additional infractions for going to your party.
*sigh*
This trash challenge is trickier than I thought. On one hand, it's super-easy when I engage in my usual routine. But on the other hand, it's hard when I go out, say to my dance lessons or to other social events.
Hmm...I'll try to be discreet about my trash-bag accessory!

I wouldn't feel too bad. This is the same as every other time we try to form a new conciousness about our impact. Sure, once you work it into your regular days, it's not that tough. But it's different when something new comes up. I had the same issues when I did Local Food Month. As long as I packed enough food or could get home to cook, I was fine. On the days I forgot that I couldn't go straight home, I was in trouble.
Chalk it up as a lesson learned about how much trash we create when we're NOT thinking about it. I think you're doing a great job!!
Thanks for writiing
